El Riel-eases: No fue hasta principios del 2006 que Sied produjo su primera pista, "Fearless". Liberado por Sub Traxx, demostró ser un hit en su carrera musical. A través del mismo verano produjo "My Dreams" (publicado en la Expedition). Paul van Dyk utilizo la pista en su 'World's No.1 Victory Mix' CD, al comentar que había" un sonido único que lo hizo rockear! "

Hi Sied, let me start by thanking you for letting Liquid.FM interview you. How are you doing today?
No thanks, the pleasure is all mine!! I’m doing just fine… recovered from a 3 day party weekender…. So im good to go again.
Why don't you start by introducing yourself to people who don't already know who Sied van Riel is?
Well I’m a DJ/ producer from Spijkenisse, NL… I produce electronic music.. with a big ass passion for Progressive and Trance….
You have only been around in the Trance scene for a little over two years, considering releases. When did you decide to produce music and at what age was this?
Well I’ve been a DJ for a real long time, but the producing part didn’t kick in until about 3 years ago… So let’s say when I was 25/26… I bought my own studio and started to learn all the ins and outs …and actually producing tracks started about 2 years ago I think, when my first track got released.
Where does Sied van Riel get his inspiration from? Does he drink a lot of Malibeer before he gets a brilliant idea for a new track?
Haha, no it’s not the Malibeer that inspires me… Mainly it’s my life as I live it. I try to actually reflect my personality and state of mind in my tracks…. I get inspired by other music to go in to my studio but I try not to let them influence me to much as I want to create my own thing. Malibeer can help to get things going tho
How would you describe the Sied van Riel sound?
Well.. as many others describe it.. Deep,warm,driving, percussive, melodic, tight…..
Last month, you played at Trance Energy 2008. This is one of the biggest dance events in the whole world. Could you tell us a bit what it was like. How unforgettable was it?
Well it was massive … I’ve been visiting it for years.. now I was one of the artist performing there… a bit strange at first.. but it rocked ass. My slot time was changed and I was also placed on the High Contrast stage in the last week or so… At first I was a bit upset as I now had to open up at 9pm.. but I didn’t let it bother me too much. So after 20 minutes into my set it got real crowded, and I ended up having a big ass party !!
About experiences not to be forgotten, what is the best gig you had so far?
Hmmm.. nothing in particular. They all have a different and own vibe. Love Parade was massive, Trance Energy of course, Cyprus is always cool to play … especially in the summer .. if you know what I mean
Ukraine is massive, UK was amazing and Oman… Oman was a small event.. but damnit did that rock !! And Romania.. I was there on NYE with Leon Bolier, Galen Gehr, Re:locate, MC Gunner and Cliff Coenraad.. we had a party over there…. And a lot of fun !! !! best NYE in Years !!
How about upcoming gigs. Do you have a lot of gigs coming up and party's we should really visit?
Uhm well if it was up to me you should all visit each and every one of them but… that might be slightly difficult.. I’m going to America next month, Ukraine is coming up, I think Russia, Turkey, Cyprus, Romania, Norway and a load of other gigs.. so if you‘re in the neighbourhood.. drop by and I’ll teach you the Malibeer dance !! If that excists =)
Next to playing at party's yourself, to do visit party's yourself a lot? You were spotted at Luminosity presents Before The Energy, what did you think of that party? Also, what is your favourite party you have been to so far?
Yeah I tend to go out a lot and leave my batcave when I’m not playing / producing.. I love to hang out with friends and enjoy the music that’s being played… I would just as easily go to a bar or a pub as to a club or festival… The best parties to visit when it comes to Trance music.. Intuition and Create in NL do it for me… always quality. Other then that.. Luminosity was a cool party the day before Trance Energy..
What is your favourite food? Are you always up for a good old Dutch snack or would you rather prefer something Chinese?
You can wake me for Shoarma, The meatball from my own kitchen and Pizza.. other then that.. let me sleep. I love Vlammetjes 2 or a Vlammetjes Tosti.
You have a release together with Leon Bolier. How was it like working together with him? Was there such a great connection that we will see more releases of you two together?
Leon and I ended up in my studio after we went out and he crashed at my place…We had a good “click’ in the studio and things went real fast.. we made 2 tracks in little over 2 and a half days.. Seen as the 2 tracks we made are a big success… we are now making the follow ups.. and we where also asked to produce 2 anthems for 2 separate Festivals were we will also be playing… So yes.. there will be more !!
About working together, are there any other producers you would like to produce with in the future? Maybe there is a chance we will see a release by Sied van Riel and your farrot?
Haha, my farrot sneaky ? She is more in to punk rock I think. Well I’m not a big fan of collabs. I recently did a track together with Geert Huinink called Minimal Symphony.. that one will be released in April on Spinnin’ Records. We have now just finished our second track together… Working with Geert and Leon is cool.. and I’m keeping it cool by sticking to that.. I don’t want to do to much side projects … gotta keep it real.
Next to producing and DJ'ing, what do you enjoy doing? Do you like watching TV or would you rather spend the day at the beach if you're not busy with music?
I enjoy a good movie, sitcoms etc and I watch a lot of Discovery.. don’t ask me why... I’m not much of a beach person.. I lost my sixpack 4 years back… I try to get tanned when I’m doing gigs in sunny places .. ..
Are there any DJ's or producers you admire? How about non-EDM music, any favourite artists, musicians or bands?
Uhm.. well when you look at Tiesto, Ferry, Armin etc and think of what they did for the dance scene in general on a global level… that’s just amazing.. and they are still all rocking it big time. That’s something special right there… It’s cool to see a new “class” of DJ’s from Holland climbing to the top now.. Sander van Doorn for instance is a guy who does the job by doing his thing and on own force.. massive !!
Illegal downloading is always a topic of discussion. What do you think about illegal downloading? Do you think it's a good thing for creating publicity or would you rather put a stop to it?
We must not forget that not all people on this planet enjoy a decent monthly income. So for the people who just cannot afford to buy it or have no means to buy it (credit cards etc) but have a big passion for music.. I can understand that they are downloading it illegally.. If you are making 300 euro’s a month and have to pay rent.. yes people that happens … I can totally understand that you go and get stuff illegaly. When something is offerd for free.. so much.. and everywhere… after the release.. or sometimes even before !! It’s human to grab it …
But there is a whole machine in progress from the moment a track gets signed till the moment it gets released. Those people including the ones who make them also eat regular stuff.. like FOOD and also may have things like CHILDEREN… and a HOUSE.. So I say.. if you have the money to buy it.. but it..
Something a bit less serious, what is your favourite TV-show?
Friends, King of Queens, Seinfeld, Perfect Strangers, Simpsons, Southpark.. you name it! I love stand up comedy 2 !!
