The ADE club festival was conceived from the idea that the dance business needed a stage to present their DJs and acts during the conference. This has evolved into an extremely diverse and exciting night program of label showcases, CD presentations, guest performances, live acts and special performances in record stores and museums.
ADE might look to us clubbers like a big beautiful club bomb blowing up in the centre of Amsterdam, scattering DJs, podiums and clubbers everywhere, to the sound of crashing bass-lines under flashes of lasers and strobes - but behind the smoke and mirrors lies the underpinning machinery behind not just the festival but the entire industry as a whole.
The ADE was originally set up as a meeting place for the business people behind the industry. A place for like-minded artists, musicians, inventors, DJs, MCs, promoters and journalists to meet up, exchange ideas, make friends and keep the beat of the dance industry pulsating. The festival side, which probably attracted you, was originally an afterthought - somewhere to showcase the talent, the acts and the music that is being discussed.
Almost 2,000 professional business people use the ADE as a brainstorming ground, a meet and greet, a name-to-faces exercise and a place to spread business, ideas and not to put too fine a point on it, make money.
