Describe one of your sets/productions if you can….

It is not very easy to describe one of my DJ sets as it always depends on the club and the crowd. If the people are open minded and ready to follow I usually try to start with some deeper tunes and slowly build up the thing to the climax. If the energy is already on a high level though, of course then I keep this level and try to drive it even higher. But altogether I’m always switching between different styles and play from old to new school, house to techno. As for me the most boring thing is, if you have the feeling that the DJ is playing during two hours that same record and groove.

Can you remember the first time you heard electronic music, remember what you liked about it?

I definitely remember my first contact with electronic music, I was about 13 years old and I got a tape from one of my neighbours who went out at this time already. It was a tape of the weekly radio show called “Clubnight” and it was Sven Väth who mixed at this night. I straight felt something like love for this new discovered music, this industrial sound, this rhythm… and I remember carrying this tape during months in my walkman, listen to it every day, till I got new stuff from my neighbor. I had also the luck that clubmusic became more and more successful and famous at this time and even the music television channels had their own electronic music shows, so I had the chance to discovering it even by watching TV.

When did you first get into DJing and producing?

I got into DJing about one year after I discovered electronic music. I started to buy some records and hung with friends who where already experimenting with a roland 303 and a dj-set up. But my first own set up I bought 3 years later when I realized that this kind of music is really just available on vinyl and I want to know more about mixing two tracks into each other and creating something new.Producing though I started pretty late, about 3 1/2 years ago.

word

How has your year been, what has taken up most of your time?

This year has been really crazy and busy and it stays like this till the very last day, not only because of a full tour schedule as well because of the massive success of Cadenza and the Vagabundos concept. I was based for the season in Ibiza, toured more than two times around the world and visited cities, clubs and places I would have never thought about. But most of my time has taken Ibiza. Almost all of the Cadenza artists and the entire office team decided to move to Ibiza for almost six months, to give everything to turn this new party of Luciano and the Vagabundos into something special and open our new residency with a big boom.?

And how has your musical taste evolved this year, what has inspired you?

I have to say that I’m more and more turning into the techno direction again after this summer, and while working in the studio I totally lost the focus on the four to the floor beat. House had his second spring during the last two or three years, now I think its time to bring some banging and rolling beats back on to the dancefloor.
In terms of your own productions, are you still learning new stuff or are you happy with your skill set now?
I think its like with everything in life, you never stop learning, you never know enough and if you are open minded and interested person you will be always hungry for knowledge and want to learn something new. I would say that I now get more and more into the direction where I want to be with my productions but still far far away from being happy with my skills.

Do you write the same way you always have or have your methods changed over the years?

I think my basic method of writing is still the same. I just tried to optimize it over the years and get better results out of it… but I still do the same mistake and start to work first on the beats and little details of them, than rather beginning with a melody, the hook or theme of a track.

When you DJ do you do so to a crowd or do you play for yourself and hope they like or?

You definitely have to find a balance between pleasing the crowd and pleasing yourself with the music you play. You have to educate them, make them following you but give them as well something they want and need. If you just play music for the crowd and you cant identify yourself with it, you can as well work in an insurance company or sell your ass.

What can people expect from you at the Cadenza Christmas Party?

I’m going to bring some self made Christmas cookies.

What else have you got coming up?

Right now I’m working on a remix for Davide Squillace for his label Hideout and as well for Nic Fanciulli together with Stacey Pullen for Saved Records… and still, on an own new ep.
