Franco Di Lorenzo is a musician, producer, DJ and label owner (Igloo-Rec) from Capital Federal Argentina. With three different projects and each project differing in sound aesthetic. He is Dilo (Intelligent techno) and Elephant Pixel (IDM). His label has played a part in growing the electronic music scene in Latin America He will be touring Europe throughout the summer and into December, and with new releasing coming this year he is going to be a busy man.

What got you started in producing and DJing?
I started producing in the 2000, recording Rock. In 2002 I did my first record with electronic elements with a project called Lapse. In 2003 I started producing my own electronic tracks as Dilo and Elephant Pixel. I started making because I have loved since I was born, I am completely connected to it. I started DJing around 2001, back then I was mixing with mp3's mostly; Abstract Hip Hop and IDM music. At the beginning I didn't even have a laptop. I was playing with my home computer, it was a nightmare! In 2003 I bought my first laptop and started DJing with it. I slowly became attracted to more dance floor oriented music when I discovered minimal clicks and cuts, electro and techno. Now I play live sets with Ableton Live with my laptop and midi controller.
What inspires Dilo/Elephant Pixel?
Music, traveling, girls, my flat, my friends, tripping out, drugs, monkeys, cool cats, nature.
About your label Igloo-Rec. How did that come about?
I started the label in the middle of 2005. I made the label because I felt something was missing in my country, there was no scene! Everybody was doing their own stuff. There were no labels releasing the music I liked. So I thought about doing a different thing, a real scene with artists collaborating and working together. So I made a platform and started working. I started receiving a lots of amazing music and discovered a lot of people doing amazing music, artists such as Seph, Jorge Savoretti, Miniröcke, Imi, Ampec/Funzion, Gurtz, Oik, Violett, Ismael Pinkler, Franco Cinelli, Lega, Julie Amadeo, Languis and many more. There have been amazing artist that have collaborated in making the art work and image of the label: Kuma, Pable Veron, Josefina Bietti and Angeles Casares. It was also the first time an Argentinean lable was working with foreign artists like Some Else, Butane, Lee Curtiss, Tstewart, Jason Emsley (USA), Danta (Holland), Shadi Megalla (Egypt), Seuil (France), Lackluster (Findland), Kasper and Papol (Spain). People with really similar ideas from all over the world working together. amazing! And the best thing is that the music can be downloaded for free worldwide. We are going to release a lot of music this year, I am very excited!
