Mr. SamMr. Sam, a definite thank you from us for your time, right of the back lets get to the crux of this Interview - "Opus" - a highlighted series you started back in 2007, what were the events that led you to the starting front of a project such as this?
A new opus is like a new child you know. Takes me a few months to do it, like a baby in his mummy’s belly. So its always special for me to release a new Opus. It's now the 3rd one: Tertio.
2009 brings us "Opus Tertio", is there any specific mindset that was used for choosing the tunes of the latest edition in your series, were you trying to reach for a specific sound or feeling?
I wanted to do a more spiritual one this time. So I focused my attention on the spiritually of the tracks. I wanted to have an ecstatic version of Opus and I'm very happy about the result to be honest. No matter if it's house, trance or techno, emotions needs to be the key word.
Rishab from "Lost Stories" and I have currently been in chats over the past few weeks, we're currently working on a radio event together, how did you and "Lost Stories" come into contact, thus resulting them a slot on your compilation?
It's very easy. I heard from them through a friend, then I got in touch with them and they send me a tune I did like a lot. Then I asked for a second one giving the idea of merging a typical Bollywood vocals with trance music and they came back with the massive “Ashna”. I do love this tune and maybe my favorite on the new Opus Tertio.
Mr. SamConsidering the various editions of "Opus", do you have a favorite?
Maybe the next one Opus Quarter. Seriously, I do always love the last one so here Opus Tertio. Fits my taste and I worked so much on it that I'm having fun listening to it at the moment..
A link from the above, on "Opus Tertio", what would some of your favorite tunes be?
Certainly “Ashna” because it's such a beautiful track. A masterpiece!
Looking ahead, to 2010, are we going to Mr. Sam take a more instrumental or vocal route to his productions?
Early 2010, I'm going to release a brand new solo artist album called “Pop Model”. You’ll be able to find vocal house, techno, trance, electro etc.. A true melting of sounds and musics.
More info to come. Stay tuned.
Considering the vast number of remixes you have worked on, is there any particular one that always seems to make it into your sets?
Certainly my D-Note – She My Skin Remix. Youtube it and have fun.
Haha. Let’s take an easier route for the last question, favourite movie?
Oh Yeah I do. Gladiator!! Have seen it 1000’s of times.
