DJL: What can you tell us about your latest release for Lomidhigh?
Daria: I am proud to realese on this label, because the concept is very underground, It’s limited, no mp3, and the most important, no distributer! Beside this crazy process, all the famous djs/producers love the label and play the tracks, and the realeses are sold out in few days. Just amazing!
DJL: Are you planning any upcoming release or remix?
Daria: I am now working for a remix for Monique Musique, which will be out in 2 or 3 months. Beside this, i am now in the process of signing a new Ep that will come out this year.
DJL: A couple of years ago you designed the artwork for some labels, are you still involved in that kind of work?
Daria: Graphic design is my main professional work, as independant, since many years. And beside this, the music as dj and aslo as producer. Sometimes i laugh when people ask me what is my profession, because i look schizo when i answer. I can add that i have a streetwear brand i grow with a girlfriend and i make some couture too. I had always have few activities on the same time, few different kind of projects. Finaly the creative process is quite similar, but the materials, the forms and the tools are different.
Since few months, the music became my most important activity, it’s time to put more energy on it. Anyway, i will never stop to do all the rest because all this different activities are essencial for my growing. I mean, when keeping the rest actived, i can jump between all this different worlds and stay alive. I have some rescue areas, i can avoid the frustrations too, it gives me other possibilities for breath when something does’nt work. It’s also a good way to get inspiration in continue.
DJL: How would you describe your performance at club?
Daria: I am just a human juke-box, i prepare my records bag, it’s my selection of what i define as good music. Then, on the club, i start a set like a story, one record after the other one. I trie to feel the crowd and i grow the set with them. I am here for two things, one is to transmit clever and fresh music, and the second is to be attentive of what the audience need, for find the way to surprise them and the same time to be connected with them.
DJL: what do you know about Latin America and what do you expect from your upcoming shows in this continent?
Daria: My dream for long time, Latin America. The dream was exactly what i did during this 6 weeks tour. Playing, and between the gigs taking time to discover the different areas, cities, traveling by car on the middle of the country to go for another gig, sleep on simple places without air conditioner and smell the odor of food. For finaly going back on a club the next saturday, and share my music with a new audience on another city…
DJL: Germany and England remain being the main countries of the electronic scene, having that in mind, why do you think so many artists (Ripperton, Van Dowsky, Dachshund and many mores) are emerging from your country, Switzerland?
Daria: I think one of the reason is that the french switzerland part is really small, and we know each other and we grow all together. Some nice labels emerged from this part of our country like Num Rec, Plak, Sthl, Perspectiv and of course Cadenza. All these labels realesed the artists and friends from here. For Ripperton for exemple it’s important to support the local artists. I think we didn’t realised at that moment that it would be more strong for the image outside of our country.
But finaly a lot of cities or countries have some crews, artists or labels. In the last years, everything became more accesible, the tools, the way to produce and the link with the rest of the world with internet. I guess this made the connection between artists and labels more fluent.
