This September sees Giuseppe Ottaviani, the foremost standard-bearer of Italian dance touchdown with his first solo debut album. A move highly-anticipated throughout the world of trance since it was first announced, ‘GO!’ brings a uniquely masterful collage of music that has already delighted dancefloors, and is now equally ready to do the same for the at-home listener.
The driving force behind halcyon trance duo NU NRG, Giuseppe’s solo career has mushroomed thanks to his ever-ready supply of electrically-charged, dancefloor road-blocking tracks. Already an accomplished live act throughout his NU NRG years, he has latterly taken that ability and transported it into the now much-acclaimed ‘Giuseppe Ottaviani Live’ experience. For 3 years now he has enthralled audiences the world over with his kinetic, ambitious performances, and most recently (during his summer ’09 residency) shaken Cream @ Amnesia to its foundations.
Through his classical music training, Ottaviani draws direction from a whole host of musical styles – both inside and outside of dance music’s borders. This is something no more keenly demonstrated than with the propelling guitars and live sounding drums of the album’s intro ‘One Day’. Cut down from a huge bank of prospecting tracks, ‘GO!’s 14 strong track-list brings with it the perfect amount of vocal skyscrapers. The already-massive single ‘No More Alone’, which features Stephen Pickup, ‘Fallen’ & ‘Angel’ (both of which boast the spine-tingling tones of Faith) and the uplifting lyrics of Francesco P-vocalled ‘Changing Ways’ all aptly exhibit the stellar quality of the songs on offer.
The loose collaborative triangle of Ottaviani, O’Callaghan & Colontonio is also again brought to the fore on ‘GO!’. The soaring euphoria of ‘Our Dimension’ has been already proved a much-hammered festival smash for (amongst others) VANDIT label boss Van Dyk, while the acid-charged Tom Colontonio collaboration is similarly ready to beat a fast trail to the dancefloor.
Whether your persuasion be melodic, euphoric, tech or any of the hinterlands in between
‘GO!’ is an album that needs to be checked by anyone serious about their trance.
