Thomas DeColita was born on October 2nd, 1984. He discovered his passion for music at a very early stage in life. Attentively listening as his mother played beautiful pieces such as “Für Elise” and “Air”, soon made his loving interest in music grow.
Sameer and Teesy caught up with him for a round of questions.
Back in 1996, as a 12 year old, he got his firstexperience with music production. He got his hands on a copy of FT2, and faithfully stuck with that tracker for 5 years before he upgraded to sequencer software.
Present day he uses FL Studio, and CoolEdit Pro for sample editing, but also applies Cubase, Sonar and Reason if the beforementioned do not quite cut it.
In 2007 was when his career started to take shape. His track Epileptica was signed to Full Access Records, with a superb remix by Tom Colontonio.
The same year he, amongst some other local EDM-producers, decided to form their own label, Out Now Records, where Thomas is a co-owner and A&R manager.
During the later years Thomas has released several tracks to Omerta Records, where he is also an A&R. And his works have gotten much support by some of
the biggest established artists out there, such as; Leon Bolier, Joop, Suzy Solar, Tom Colontonio, Lee Haslam, Daniel Wanrooy and many more.
Thomas’ music is as diverse as night and day. His productions varies from IDM, Hiphip, Trance, Euro/Pop Trance, to Orchestral/Movie Theme-music. Though you’ll find some common denominators throughout his productions, and that is the amount of emotion you will find in it, its complexity and outstanding quality of production.Thomas DeColita
Mr. DeColita, Teesy and I thank you for this chance to annoy you. How have you been doing?
Well, considering the last few weeks, working hours and the hype about me and my co-producers releases - very good, thank you very much.
Amazingly since the age 12 you have had experience with production, who would you say were your influences through the years as you were growing up?
Well, to begin with it was my mom - she always played on her piano and I could sit next to her and just listen to her for hours... then when I got around 10 years old, I loved Roxette - The Look and was interested in drums at that period. Prodigy has also been a very big influence when it comes to electronica - their track "Poison" got me hooked and that's how I started using FT2 at the age of 12.
Is there perhaps any vocalist that you would love to lend your musical brilliance to and produce even more melodic art with?
Yeah, there are several to be honest but my favorite vocalist is Enya because of the way she uses her voice to bring out herself in the most passionate way. I also enjoy Jaren from the Dash Berlin tracks, she is wicked when she does her thing!
Taking into account this year and a small ponder through last year, which tunes have really impressed you ?
Dash Berlin - Till The Sky Falls Down has really impressed me and of course their other releases with Jaren. Also, the Norwegian duo The Blizzard's collab with Gåte and their tune "Iselilja" got my attention pretty fast! Other than these there are so much good music coming from both rising artists and already known ones - I love how people express themself the way they do.
For the readers that don't know, how would they tune into your radio shows?
Well, my primary show "Expression" on Citybeatradio is aired the 3rd and 4th sunday of the month at 10pm CET - YouChoon is every other saturday on DanceRadioGlobal.com at 12pm CET and DeCoMania on Slinky.fm is various timetables, they can check it out on

You & your friend Ruben Kamp Nyborg did two awesome tracks together, Obnoxious & GuiTrance, and these days they have been #2 & #8 on DanceMusicHub Trance Top 100 and Obnoxious was Featured Track on trackitdown.net. How are your reaction`s to such an amazing support from all over?
Oh I am stunned to be honest, "GuiTrance" was all the way down to #6 for two days and the emails, phonecalls and IM's just kept coming in about it - that type of support is what makes this so fun to work with. That people understands both mine and our music is just undescribable. Ruben's reaction is the same, so we're working on many upcoming tracks that hopefully will be appreciated somewhat the same.
Almost every reader wants to know a little bit about the future plans of the artist that we are interviewing, so I am obliged to ask you that at some point: What does Mr. DeColita have in store for the fans this year, anything you can share with us?
I am not supposed to tell you guys too much about things but I can tell you about an upcoming remix that me and my lovely friend Ms.DJ Teesy are doing that is TBA anytime soon. There is also a remix that will be announced anydays soon for the swedish label FoolsForest owned by my good friend Fabian Kempe. I wish I could tell you more but where would the surprise be if I did?
We have heard a little bit on how you discovered your passion for music, however, is there perhaps an incident from your life, your childhood, that you really remember and still gives you the extra "kick" to keep things rollin in the studio when you feel like you're "stuck"?
This is a hard one, but my mom has cancer and has been struggling with that for many years, and whenever I feel like I am stuck I think of her will and power to continue with her life and the way she played "her feelings" through the piano. It gives me so much to know that she did that and I think that is my "boost" to be honest. Haven't really thought about that in this way but it does.
Sorry to hear that. It was back in 2007 your music career started to really take shape and expand, you got signed to Full Access Records & Tom Colontonio did a super Remix. How did things go after that breakthrough?
Very good, I was having "bad thoughts" about moving my music from a hobby to a "job" because of the many hours we spend in studio everyday. But I got really well taken care of by fellow producers and I really appreciate that Tom did that remix for me - it gives him good karma Things are increasing more and more by each day, today I manage a radiostation, co-own a label and I work with great producers such as yourself "Teesy", my friend Ruben Nyborg and many others which names can't be mentioned at this time but it's getting there.

During the later years you have done some amazing work not only as a DJ & Producer but also working as an A & R at the label Omerta Records (where you have released several tracks). Your work as been supported by big names as Daniel Wanrooy, Suzy Solar, Leon Boiler, Joop & Lee Haslam and many more. What would you say is the biggest thing that has happend to you so far in your career?
The most joyfull things that have happened to me is to see the artists I manage evolve so much and go from a shy producer that barely knows how good he/she actually is to getting the self-esteem and just produce with their hearts and achieve success! Nothing is more intrigueing than watching artists that love their work blush when they get so good feedback - wow! And ofcourse, the ability that I have to work with so many different people and help and learn at the same time - it's almost divine.
What is your favorite thing to do besides from music, and what kind of a guy is DeColita on his free time?
Favorite thing to do... Well, my nephew Sebastian is my little star and I love to fool around and to have fun with him as much as I can. Next to that I love to party, hehe - nothing beats a good night with beer, music and people gathered to have fun. Which reminds me, I need to open a beer right now.
We would really like to thank you for taking time to have a chat and sharing more of yourself with us, and since I "teesy" finally get the chance to ask "THE QUESTION" Sameer always asks me when he's done interviews with me, I really just have to try it and see if it works better for me then it did for him... So Mr.DeColita could I have your mobile number? Smile
Haha, of course you can sweetie - but I must ask you a question before I hand it out: what for?
Umm aah well you know I have to give you a call and ask you about some baby things and maybe I need a babysitter when my little prince is born, what else?! Smile
