Ernesto and Bastian need no introduction, or certainly not if you know your dance music! As far as music partnerships are concerned this pair are the perfect match!
Foundations to their successful double act were set in 2001 when they produced three blinding singles - "Lonely People", "Being Single" and "Who Is The Starter", all of them going on to sell thousands worldwide. It wasn’t until the phenomenally huge ‘Dark Side of The Moon’ was released did the planet sit up and take notice. This one single has been signed to over 30 countries still the requests flow in! It was the biggest trance record of 2005 and being considered as a classic After this – the only direction for Ernesto & Bastian was up!
Jacquelina caught up with them for an interview.
I've lost myself in your music on many ocassions. Whenever I hear the lyrics "so good, let me loose myself" from The Dark Side of the Moon it motivates me to just release myself. What inspires you to create your tunes?
Everything around inspires us. If you are at this level of making music, you think and write in music. What inspires us most is the interaction with the audience during our gigs. Positive energy = positive tunes. But also listening to other music, radio shows, concerts, pop artists and other DJ’s gives us inspiration. Everything we hear, feel and see inspires us.
Authenticity is such a gorgeous album, I just want to give you kudos on that, where did you spend the majority of your time creating it?
In the studio, where else?
When you're not in the studio, playing in various venues, what do you guys enjoy most on your down time?
Sporting, swimming, good restaurants, visiting friends, We also spent time on a new concept Club Night here in Holland called Optima Forma, Together with MC Da Silva and the other team players we are working on this new Trance night. We have had the first edition on the 28th March in the Lexion in Westzaan Holland, which was a great success. The next edition, Optima Forma – the second wave, was on the 20th June 2009.
What's your favourite track at the moment?
Laserbrain, our new track. The new track we are still testing. Another favorite track is ‘Unprepared’ from Marco V from his new album ‘Propaganda’.
I'm in Canada, I live quite close to Toronto where The Guvernment is located, do you have any plans coming this side in the near future?
Our agency Global Twist Music is busy with some gigs in Canada. It would be nice to have a gig in The Guvernment! For bookings you can contact Global Twist Music:

For future projects, who would you like to work with that you have yet to work with?
We would like to produce a single with a pop artist. Also producing a trance track with an inspiration-full female or male singer would be very nice. We always try, working on a new vocal track at the moment.
How did you two meet?
We were working at the same Telephone Company. We had the same interests in music and we started the Miracle Sound studio in 2000. From the first productions as ‘Lonely People’ and ‘Being Single’ we were very successful.
I have had the pleasure of speaking with you through Facebook on many occassions, I just wanted to comment that it's really generous of you two to spend time interacting with your fans. When did you both realize you had acclaimed such success?
After our release of ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’, which came out in 40 countries. We realized that we are and have become very successful worldwide. We try to answer all the fans, we make free time for this. But, we get lots of emails every week, so it is not always possible to answer directly. We like the interaction with the fans, it is important to read and hear from our fans what they like.
