Is Ableton Live 8 coming Thursday?

Ableton has refused to confirm to us what the basis of their press conference will be on Thursday at the NAMM 2009 music tech show, but it might be one of two things (we hope, as both possible announcements are exciting).

The first is Ableton 8 - Ableton didn’t release a new version of its software in 2008, but we’ve heard that the company has been hard at work testing Ableton 8 and our sources tell us it might be ready soon.

The other announcement could be the previously reported partnership of Ableton and Serato finally coming to fruition.

There’s been no news about what that partnership will lead to, but a hazarded guess would be some sort of Ableton loop playing functionality inside Serato.
